How I became a recovering over-thinker

Do your friends and family ever tell you things like….

“You’re over-thinking this.”

“Stop dwelling on the past.”

“You think too much!”

I used to get these kinds of comments ALL the time. And I’ll be honest, they really hurt my feelings.

Because thinking felt like an inescapable part of me.

I believed that I could get through life and manage what happened to me by thinking everything through very carefully.

I needed to think and analyze in order to feel safe and confident in myself.

But many of the people in my life didn’t understand this.

One friend actually delivered this gem when we were out at a bar talking about love and relationships…

“You’ll never find love because you just over-think and over-analyze everything!”

Um. Ouch.

I felt so deflated when he said that. Basically, I heard him saying that there was something inherently wrong with me and it would block me from being happy.

Thinking though and analyzing everything in my life were so ingrained that I didn’t know how else I could function in the world.

And according to this friend, that meant that I was doomed to a life of loneliness.

Pretty depressing, right?

That upsetting exchanged happened about 10 years ago.

And now, in 2016, I can smile and say that I consider myself a recovering over-thinker.

I definitely still have tendencies to ruminate on important decisions or upsetting incidents from the past.

But I made a decision to start listening to my intuition, my heart and my gut instead of relying solely on my mind to direct my life.

This was a HUGE change, so I needed a tool to help me.

And I found a fantastic tool!

Using this tool, I can get more information about a situation and stop thinking to the point of upsetting myself.

I can access the higher perspective of my Angels and guides to put those anxious thoughts to rest.

Can you guess what tool I’m talking about?

Oracle cards!

Oracle cards are such a great help when I can’t make up my mind about something important.

Or even something that’s not that important (like whether I should go hiking or to the pool on a Saturday afternoon). Strangely, these types of decisions were the ones that got me really worked up when I was younger.

Now that I know how to use Oracle cards, I can consult my cards to see what feels like the best option for me that day.

And I always feel better. Calmer. Relieved. And confident that I’m on the right track after all.

I use Oracle cards to check in daily with my Angels and guides and ask what I can focus on to be the best version of myself.

I consult my cards when I need to make an important business decision and list of pros and cons just won’t cut it.

And, many times, the cards validate what I was already thinking about or wanting to do.

Seeing my gut instincts confirmed in a card spread is so helpful! I can feel that my self confidence and trust in my own intuition has grown as a result of my Oracle card practice.

So, what about you?

Would you like to experience the ease and peace of mind that Oracle cards can create in your life?
